When I see children's photography (not the boring studio shots), I am always impressed. I know that it requires a wealth of patience and huge memory card. When you can shoot little kids and end up with a result that is everything warm and bubbly the parent knows their child to be, it is a gift.
A visit with my niece is always fun. I took this time in particular to take some pictures of her. I tried having her simply sit for me but it was too plain. I wanted to get a more natural and relaxed look with her. She had to be in her own element and not be concerned with me and the camera in her personal space.
Ok, so who's down for a tea party? We'll have some tea with cookies and ice cream and fruit and sandwiches! We had one big spread happening and it gave me enough opportunity to get some different looks. It took about 10 minutes to get the flash power and camera settings right and even then, I still had to make slight adjustments for a correct exposure. This picture here stood out to me the most. I look at it and I can't help but smile. A pretty little girl: adorable, so sweet, and so (unknowingly) funny, captured in the midst of play. It doesn't get much more natural than that.
